This morning was 5.6 miles easy with about 30 minutes of core + strength training afterwards. I did not take any pics this morning, but we wore pants. I think it is funny how I have been complaining about wearing pants lately but I have to remember that it IS JANUARY in KY, so that is actually on par. We just got a bit spoiled with the warm January running that you can read about here (put link to the shorts wearing post). Todd is coming up with the strength training routines for a while and I am super proud of him because let’s just say he is not the most creative person and he has been doing a good job of keeping me interested. That plus we have been listening to this podcast https://runneracademy.com/running-podcast/ while we do our strength training and I give it a thumbs up. I like the mix of everyday runners, pros, and they also hit on a lot of ultra runner topics.
While we are on the topic of our favorite running things (see how I did that smooth transition?), we just need to tell you about some of our fav fuels. The first is Grab the Gold. It is seriously just awesome. If you are ever looking for a protein bar that actually makes you think you are eating cookies, then this is your bar. I am really bad and, when we are getting low on our stash, I try to make Todd think that we are out of them and I hide the rest and sneak eat them while I am at work. I think he has caught on, but he hasn’t called me out on it yet so I will just keep doing it. Well, let’s be honest, I would do it even if he called me out on it because he knows that what’s his is mine and what’s mine is mine, so that’s just how we roll.
Next, please take a moment to think about all the disgusting protein shakes you have ever tried. You may be thinking, “yeah, they are all nasty-pants,” but I am here to tell you that that is just not true. Core Power is just amazing. They use real milk and there is no chalky aftertaste. The nutrients dominate and that is all I have to say about that.
(PS—Grab the Gold and Core Power did sponsor us for previous races, but they no longer do. However, we will love them forever regardless of whether we get any more free product. They are both just that awesome. PPS—Runner Academy is not sponsoring us, but we would be happy if they would, so shout out if you want to sponsor us Runner Academy).
We will save the other product reviews, etc for another day, as I don’t want to overwhelm you with entertainment and tastiness in one day. And I will leave you with a good winter pic to show you that it is possible to wrap up to the point that only three inches of your face is showing.
