Vertical Bello’s, Self-Improvement, and Rocking the Mopping

It was cold city again this morning, and I am trying to save my legs a bit for all the ridiculously sunny and warm running that we are anticipating for next week.

Our workout this morning went something like this:

2 sets of fast stairs (3 floors up and 3 floors down)

2 minutes of various workouts in between (including full squats, front planks, mountain climbers, one leg squats, jumping squats, side planks, jumping jack planks)

Repeat this 10 times

2 sets of stairs taken two at a time to really mimic the feel of climbing steep hills in trail ultras (3 floors up and 3 floors down)

2 minutes of various workouts in between (including full squats, front planks, mountain climbers, one leg squats, jumping squats, side planks, jumping jack planks)

Repeat this 10 times

So, yeah, you can just call us the Vertical Bello’s from now on. We take on incline like it just ain’t no thang. I am really trying to work on my squat form, too, as I am pretty sure my weak glutes are to blame for a lot of my injuries of late.

Looking back at our training over the past year, it is so obvious that we were severely lacking in the strength area. It was nothing for us to hit 100 mile weeks regularly, with about 20 minutes of core work and basically zero strength, plyometric, or agility training. It is actually a wonder we were able to do all of this in 2015. Well, no more silliness for us. Part of my 2016 “self-improvement plan” was to really up the ante on strength training and hills, which we have not shied away from this year so far, as you can read about in our posts here: Hill Saturday,  and here: Hills for Breakfast

I really want 2016 to be a big year, and we have some major goals planned, so please stay tuned and FOLLOW our blog to find out what the Vertical Bello’s have in store!
