The Other Things

This morning, we ran a little over 8 miles at an easy pace. I have a nagging issue in my right quad/hip, so I am taking it extra cautiously this week and have avoided any hard workouts/speed work. We also skipped our longer weekend running last weekend and opted for two easy runs of less than 10 miles each. Because I really want 2020 to be the year of no injuries that take me out of the game for significant periods of time, I have been working on eliminating my excuses for doing the “other things” besides running. By the “other things”, I mean all those things that really are necessary for most of us runners to incorporate in order to avoid injury. Yesterday, I posted that I actually stayed motivated long enough to hit the gym after our morning run. Today, it’s all about the foam rolling and stretching.

Given our A race for the year is the HOTS 333ish mile race in June, I have some time to keep it easy and low mileage. For now, I am trying to listen to my body and only do what I feel is healthy given my current pain level. Not to say that it is easy because I find myself just wanting to RUN.ALL.THE.MILES. But, I am trying to stay patient and positive. I hope you are having a terrific Thursday!
